| Award ceremony for women's all-around final (from left: Yokochi, Murata, Nakamura) |
Clubs & Ribbon for individuals and 3 hoops 2 balls for Group for the all-around final were held.
Murata won in the all-around final. Yokochi placed second, Nakamura placed third, and Hayashi (Tokyo Women's College of Physical Education) placed fourth, so all gymnasts who competed in the World Championships in Budapest placed high in the finals.
Murata missed catching a club behind her back at the beginning of her routine, but on the whole, her performance was very powerful , just as it had been on day 1. On ribbon, she got her ribbon tangled up until the end of her routine, but she kept calm.
Yokochi showed a relaxed and speedy performance with clubs. She dropped her ribbon on ribbon, but on the whole, she was stable until the end.
Nakamura was better than the day before, and showed stability on her balances and had a very powerful performance.
Hayashi also performed her difficulties better than before, and had a stable performance.
In the group final, the women of Tokyo Women's College of Physical Education showed their power to keep off the other teams as they had on day 1. They succeeded; they joined 3 hoops and caught the ball with it, even though they had missed it on the warm-up. They also showed their strong concentration in the competition, so they got their victory.
Interview with Murata
"I had decided to perform my skills one by one, but I made a mistake on both of them. I'm not satisfied. I'm embarrassed. I can't feel that I'm a winner and my performance was worthless as a winner. Concerning my mistake with the clubs, I lost the control of throwing, and then I couldn't concentrate on my performance because I didn't know whether I should try to catch the club behind my back (in which case I would have gotten higher AV) or seeing it, (in which case I would have no mistake.) That was why I made my mistake. Concerning my mistake on ribbon, I should have handled my ribbon more strongly than usual due to the high humidity in such a rainy day. But for that reason, I thought it would be difficult to untangle it so I decided to move my ribbon more strongly. The Olympic Games Trials will be next year. I think small mistakes make me lose. I made small mistakes in this competition but I'd like to think "Be careful for next year" and I'd like to train more."
Interview with the women of Tokyo Women's College of Physical Education
"Our team is built on fourth year students, so we have trained to show our excellent performances, not merely to avoid mistakes. We think we could do this and we were very calm this time. We could feel the power from our supporters, so we could take some chances. We also would like to perform the same as we did today."
