The senior individual category finished the first two events (hoop and
ball), and Yukari Murata (Tokyo Women's College of Physical Education)was
ahead with a steady performance. She was doing the important parts of her
routines well even though she was not in good shape. Second place went
to Yachiyo Nakamura (Aeon). She had good flexibility, but dropped her equipment
on some skills. Ai Yokochi (Aeon) had variety in her routine, and Yoshie
Hayashi (Tokyo Women's College of Physical Education) had few mistakes:
they tied for third.
The junior individual category also finished the first two events (club
and ribbon.) Rina Tanigawa (Machida RG) performed very decisively to lead
on the first day.
In the group competition, Tokyo Women's College of Physical Education lead
with a speedy and powerful performance.
COMMENTS
Yukari Murata:
"I'm satisfied with myself because today I did my job without hesitation
in a very large hall. Even though I missed on some skills, I performed
as well as I could. I'd like to keep it going in tomorrow's competition."
Rina Tanigawa:
"Before the competition, I got really nervous but once the competition started, I could enjoy performing. I got more confidence gradually, so I'd like to do my best tomorrow."
Tokyo Women's College of Physical Education (Mami Nakata, captain)
"We just appreciate the support from many people, and are glad to
perform today. It's a shame that we missed, but we hope we can do our routines
tomorrow better than today.
