Uchimura grabbes gold , Purvis wins WC series
Kohei Uchimura won his first World Cup Series at Tokyo Cup 2011 over Germany's Philipp Boy as well as the two recent World Championships. British Daniel Purvis became the first winner of World Cup Series for the men's all-around. To see the detailed report, please click here.

Nonomura challeges Uchimura at Tokyo Cup
A Japanese highschool gymnast, Shogo Nonomura, will compete at Tokyo Cup after winning DTB Pokal. This will be the first time for him to challenge Uchimura at an international competition!

Huang and Nonomura win DTB Pokal
Huang Qiushuang (CHN) and Shogo Nonomura (JPN) won the women's and men's all-around respectively at DTB Pokal, the third competition of 2011 World Cup Series. Huang gained the highest world cup point that pushes her in the top ranking. Purvis and Kuksenkov placed third and fourth respectively, and Kuksenkov keeps the lead in the ranking and Purvis jumped up to second behind Kuksenkov.

Minobe replaces Shintake for Japan
Yuko Shitanke, who was scheduled to compete at Tokyo Cup 2011, withdrew from the competition because of due to her treatment of her knee. Instead, Yu Minobe, the three time gold medalist at Shenzheng Universiade, will represent the host country.

Stuttgart ready for DTB Pokal

DTB Pokal, one of the FIG World Cup Series 2011 for all-around, is going to be held in Stuttugart, Germany. That will be the third competition of the series and will have Kuksenkov (UKR), who is leading the men's ranking. Please enjoy the meet before the final stage in Tokyo at the event website.

Uchimura and Shintake represent host country

Representing a host country, Kohei Uchimura and Yuko Shintake will compete at 2011 Tokyo Cup. Japan, the host country, will use its wild cards for those two due to the withdraw of Koji Uematsu, who ranks 8th after the two competitions of World Cup series.

Uchimura might be invited as the world champion in 2011 in case the number of the top eight gymnasts in the World Cup ranking is less than 8.

Kuksenkov and Lopez leading World Cup Ranking

2011 World Cup Series had alread two competitions in the United States (AT&T American Cup) and Great Britain (Glasgow World Cup). After those competitions, Mykola Kuksenkov (Ukraine) and Jessica Lopez (Venezuela) are leading World Cup Ranking. World Cup series will have another competition in Germany (Stuttgart) prior to Tokyo Cup 2011. The top 8 gymnasts are automatically invited to this competiton and Japan will have a wild card in case none of its gymnast is qualified.

Japan to host another big competition this fall!

After concluding the world championships this October, Japan is going to hold Tokyo Cup 2011, one of the competitions of FIG world cup series. The competition is for theindividual all-around with A Category. It will be not only a “single Final round” competition with no qualifications, but also the final round of World Cup Series.
